A Little History

Since we have a new page, a new name, and some new folks who might not know us, I’d like to share a bit about The Untamed Daisy and our beginnings. ❤️

My name is Michelle and I have four amazing kids. I’ve made soap for almost 8 years. In the very beginning, it began as a logical progression of our farming lifestyle. We were gardening and milking goats and homeschooling. Making our own body products pulled me...especially since I could use our goat's milk and herbs from the backyard. I loved the idea of creating from raw products….and I still do!
I made my first soap saw that I had interest on Facebook from family and friends...so, I began making more. I fell in love from the first batch! Selling on Facebook led to setting up at local festivals which led to meeting people two nights a month in Sam’s parking lot and selling out of the back of my SUV. I still have people who remind me of the soap mobile days. 💛
Fast forward a couple of years, and my sweet friend (who now works in the store when she isn’t teaching) found an amazing retail spot in downtown Hickory, North Carolina. I honestly didn’t see how I could possibly do it. I was recently divorced and it just didn’t seem feasible. But God worked out a way (like He does), and I actually got to have my very own storefront!!!!
I’ve since moved into a slightly larger spot and still every time I turn the key and walk into the store, I’m amazed all over again. I can’t believe I have the opportunity to see my customers who’ve become friends on the regular. I’m thankful for the new customers I get to meet. I’m so thankful that I get to do something I love. The most amazing part of it all is that I’ve had the pleasure of working with my kids. I can’t possibly tell you how much I treasure that.

We’ve gone through a name change and been through some unnecessary struggles in the past three years, but I feel like this is my calling. I honestly hope to not only sell soap but to encourage you when you walk through the door. My heart is all over everything...the products, the store, you…. I guess that’s one of my favorite things about being a small business owner… the personal connection!!
